Waste Management collects trash and recycling for the Borough of Baldwin. This service is paid for by your tax dollars.

General Information
Trash will be collected once per week. Recycling will be collected every other week. Please place materials at the curb after 6pm on the day prior to collection or before 6:00am on the scheduled collection day.
To report a missed trash pick up, visit www.wm.com to chat with a live representative or call 800-866-4460. In the event of inclement weather, visit www.wm.com/alerts for service updates, delays or cancellations.
Observed Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. When your collection day falls on one of those holidays or a day that week after the holiday, your service will be delayed by one day during that week only. There will be no delays if a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
AUTOMATED TRASH COLLECTION
Residents received a 96 gallon burgundy trash cart with grey lid for trash collection in March of 2024.
Material outside of the trash cart will not be collected.
Grass clippings can be bagged and placed in the trash cart.
Please make sure there is at least 3 feet between your carts and any obstacles (mailboxes, parked cars, trees, etc.)
Residents can request an additional cart for an annual fee of $110 per year with a 7% increase each year through the contract. To request an additional cart, residents must contact WM at 800-866-4460 and say "Service Change" when prompted or visit wm.com for live chat features.
AUTOMATED RECYCLING COLLECTION
Please continue using your current blue recycling cart.
- All material must be placed loose in the cart - materials should not be bagged.
- Material outside of the recycling cart will not be collected.
- Glass items will be permitted in the recycling cart (as of January 1, 2024)
- The glass recycling container will continue to be available in Elm Leaf Park, as well as glass recycling at the Michael Bros. facility on Horning Road.
- Boxes must be broken down and placed inside of the cart.
BULK ITEMS AND OVERFLOW MATERIAL:
WM will collect 2 bulk items once per month during the 1st FULL week of the month at no additional charge. Place your bulk item(s) at the curb on the same day as your trash collection during your bulk item collection week. Extra bulk collection items can be scheduled, for a fee, through www.wm.com or by calling 800-866-4460.
A bulk item is: an appliance, piece of furniture, or some other residential item that is too large to fit in the container. Construction debris and hazardous waste are not permitted as bulk items. Bagged items/bags of trash/boxes are not considered bulk items and will not be collected if left outside of the trash cart.
Bulk Waste:
- Furniture including chairs, pieces of furniture, armoires, cabinet, chest, headboard, sofa, mattress, dressers and interior doors.
- Household appliances including washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, toilet, refrigerator & room air conditioners (Freon must be removed and tagged), microwave, hot water tank, etc.
- Carpeting (cut and tied in 4-foot bundles)
- Picnic table or bench (unattached), basketball board or pool (6' or less in height), swing set (unassembled)
NOT Bulk Waste:
- Concrete, bricks, asphalt, roofing, electronics
- Vehicles, electric wheelchairs, or parts
- Compressors
- Building materials such as plaster, dry wall, wood, construction debris, etc.
- Bagged trash
- Boxes
- Bagged grass clippings
REQUESTING A SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR EXTRA BAGS OR BULK ITEMS:
Residents who have bagged trash that does not fit inside their provided cart can schedule a special collection on their designated service day through WM at 1-800-866-4460 and follow the prompts. The rate for the special pick-up is $6 per bag. Residents will be limited to 20 bags or less. Special collections must be scheduled at least 48 hours before the resident’s service day.
Please remember that an extra cart can be requested for an additional $110 in 2024.
Residents are permitted up to two bulk items per month to be collected during their designated bulk collection week. Residents who have additional bulk waste that needs to be collected can schedule a special collection through WM by calling 1-800-866-4460 and following the prompts. Special collections must be scheduled at least 48 hours before a resident’s service day. The rate for a special collection for bulk items is $75 plus the bulk rate for each item being collected. To avoid the $75 special collection fee, residents can schedule additional bulk items to be collected during their community’s designated bulk collection week.
WM also offers the Bagster service for residents who have material from a clean-out or special renovation project. Bagster bags can be purchased for $30 from retailers like Lowes and Home Depot. Each bag holds up to 3,300 lbs. More information about the Bagster, including scheduling and pick-up pricing, can be found at thebagster.com.
AT YOUR DOOR COLLECTION:
WM offers a special service for the pick-up and disposal of items that aren’t fit for regular garbage or recycling collection. Waste Management calls this program “At Your Door Special Collection.” We want to make sure that all of our residents know about this tremendous resource! This service is not changing at all.
If you have something to dispose of that is listed below, contact WM at 1-800-449-7587, online at www.WMAtYourDoor.com, or e mail AtYourDoor@WM.com to arrange a pick-up. WM will send you a kit in the mail that will contain bags for your items. On the specified date, WM will collect the items from your home (you do not have to be present) and will transport the items to a DEP approved facility. The best part of the service…it is at NO additional cost to you!
Here is a list of some of the items included in At Your Door Special Collection:
- Automotive Products: Antifreeze, brake fluid, motor oil, hydraulic and transmission fluid, gasoline, diesel fuel, wax, polish, vehicle batteries
- Garden Chemicals: Fertilizers, insect sprays, herbicides, pesticides and weed killers
- Paint Products: Caulk, glue, paint, stain, stripper, thinner, wood preservative, sealer
- Household Chemicals: Ammonia, heavy-duty cleansers, tile remover, rust remover, drain cleaner
- Combustible Products: Kerosene, Solvent
- Swimming Pool Chemicals: Chlorine, Pool Acid
- Electronics: PCs, MP3 Players, iPods, TVs, DVD players, cell phones, computers and monitors, VCRs, DVD and CD players, Cords
- Universal Materials: Batteries, CFL Bulbs, thermometers, fluorescent tubes and more (excludes CO2 detectors)
Leaf & Yard Waste Collection

Leaves will be collected outside of the trash cart in brown biodegradable lawn and leaf bags on the dates above. Leaves can be bagged and placed in the trash cart at any other time of the year.
For larger yard waste items, the Borough provides a yard waste dumpster in the Public Works lot on Elm Leaf Drive. It is open to residents Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm.
**Dumping non-yard waste into the yard waste dumpster is a punishable offense.
